Desert Festival
The Desert Festival is one of the most important fairs and festivals of Rajasthan. This renowned festival is  celebrated annually in the desert city of Jaisalmer. Jaisalmer, the golden city of India, is a wonderful tourist place & beautiful city located in the middle of the vast Thar Desert of Rajasthan. Every year, the city organizes the Desert Festival with great fervor, zeal and enthusiasm. This festival generally held in the month of January or February. The festival remains for three days and it comes to an on Poornima (the last day of Hindus month), the full moon day.
The Desert Festival of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan displays the rich and colorful culture of the state. The festival attracts a large gathering of tourists even international tourists and provides them wonderful opportunity to observe the rich culture and tradition of the state. Dressed in colorful and bright attire, the Rajasthani people dance to the tunes of folk music lingering ballads of heroism, romance and tragedy of the local heroes.
During the Rajasthan Desert Festival, travellers have opportunity to see and enjoy performances performed by local artisans, snake charmers, puppeteers, acrobats, folk performers, etc. Gair and Fire dancers in their colorful & vibrant bright attires never fail to capture hearts of visitors. Also travellers have opportunity to enjoy camel (the ship of the desert) ride, camel cart ride, camel races, camel competition, and a number of events. Camel Polo and Camel Dance are quite popular attractions of Rajasthan desert festival. 
Turban tying competition and a display of the most glorious moustaches are special attractions of desert festival of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Turbans and moustaches believed to the symbols of honor in the royal and imperial state of Rajasthan, India. Mr Desert Contest is also organized during this festival. This fascinating festival and all its contests are organized on the desert land with the magnificent Golden Fort and Sand Dunes as the backdrop. Traditional handicrafts of Rajasthan are also traded at the fair.
